Country dancing Tucson style is really fun.
As locals who love to dance (especially country), we've been to almost all of these great spots. We'll show you the ropes for the two-stepping, swing and line dancing places to be.
Here you have the popular spots to have fun dancing, watching, and/or listening to the music. Have yourself a western-styled evening of nightlife in Tucson. These are the main clubs to go to in town.
One of Tucson’s main go-to country dance halls.
Probably the most "historic" country music club in town. Open since 1962, they had their 60th anniversary in January 2023. We remember its much smaller location at Swan and 22nd Street. There was a fire, causing a move to this larger facility. Great idea for dancing, rather than rebuilding. It's also somewhat more centrally located now.
It has a good size dance floor. You'll often be out there dancing to a live country band. But your dancing two-steps will likely be maneuvering, reversing, pausing, and go-round on the most crowded nights. That's usually Fridays and Saturdays, but sometimes on Wednesdays too.

Yes, of course at this top dance club you get to take Country Dance Lessons.
Check it out if you're new to this style of dancing. You'll be able to blend in better on the dance floor!
Put it into your GPS: 6622 E. Tanque Verde Rd., west of the intersection where Grant Rd. becomes Kolb Rd. If you need more details for the current bands playing, call them at 520-298-0434.
We were glad when this place opened.
Because there was no country dancing Tucson style on the northwest side of town since The New West closed in 2002. And it's the one closest to our home.

It's a Bar & Grill with a pretty extensive variety menu for lunch and dinner Saturday & Sundays, with a Sunday brunch, too.
It gets pretty busy on the weekends. Reservations recommended for meals.
They also observe some fun yearly holidays like Valentine's Day 💝and St. Patrick's Day ☘️ (we're Irish, and have been there for their corned beef & cabbage).
In the Foothills Mall, southwestern corner of the mall building.
For the bar's size, the dance floor could almost be described as huge! It's been around for quite a while, attracts many locals, as it's also a neighborhood bar.

They bill themselves as "your friendly neighborhood dive bar & grill" and we'd say that's pretty accurate.
LOCATION: 1302 W. Roger Road, just east of Flowing Wells Rd. More details: TheOutlawArizona@gmail.com or call 520-888-3910.
These aren't your traditional venues for country dancing in Tucson. But they could be worth a look.
The first time we tried this place, we were laughing about its name. Is it some kind of weird hybrid animal?
It's a small homey bar, with a western style vibe & lots of character. Not a true bar for country dancing in Tucson. As they don't technically have a dance floor. But you know how that is - sometimes people will dance in the aisles. (We've done that!)
LOCATION: 6510 E Tanque Verde Rd, right after the big curve on Wilmott going westward. Just about hidden from view, it's set back. Turn into the Zio Pepe parking lot, You'll See it Back Aways.
For more details call 520-721-2781.
This dance hall focuses on the more traditional country dance styles. Like Square, Round and Contra Dancing. The sponsors (Square and Round Dance Association of Southern Arizona: SARDASA) say it's "where to dance in Southern Arizona."

Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights are usually when country dancing Tucson has the busiest dance floor. Most clubs have line dance lessons in the early evening (usually around 7-8pm). Great offerings if you’re new to two-stepping or swing. Classes are inexpensive or free, and help you blend into the dance floor.
Cover charges and schedules vary by venue, night of the week and the particular event or band. We recommend searching the honky-tonk's social media to confirm what's happening the day of your plans. Or use the contact info above.
Peak nights at The Maverick: Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday are usually most active for country dancing and lessons. That's usually when they have live music.
