For Cult Classics & Local Film Nights
It's quite a special place. Voted Best of Tucson every year since 2002 by Tucson Weekly readers. They're a membership-supported nonprofit. And they celebrated a 50 year anniversary in 2022. No Tucson movie house has been open as long as that.
Their mission is to screen independent American and foreign films, documentaries, classic art films, and cult favorites.
Also known for having the largest screen in Southern Arizona, every one of the 500 seats gets a melt-into-it view of the film.
While there, grab a beer or wine, order up a pizza - there's a concession for that!

RoadHouse Cinemas
Located in the Crossroads Festival Shopping Center, 4811 E.Grant Rd, Suite 150 - NE corner of Grant & Swan. To find the entrance, head toward the east end of the strip mall buildings, and wind around the back. That's your first adventure.
It's not a nation-wide chain, but like them it regularly shows first-run films. In a comfy cozy-seated multiplex.
What sets it apart is the in-theater dining experience. Come on in to find an elegant lounge area with a full bar, sparkling chandeliers, and upscale decor. It's the definition of "dinner and a movie." Chalkboard menu items were created by an award-winning chef. The first of its kind in town.
The owners are three business partners who decided to add further quirkiness.
Roadies - an entertainment center with lanes, games & a gastropub in the stip mall's front-adjacent Suite-131.
When entering, the restaurant/bar (with giant screens) is to the right. You'll sink comfortably in some of their seating! But even more: axe-throwing, reality-augmented bowling lanes, laser tag, arcade games (over 100), and even mini movie theaters. Plus so much more your eyes will get bedazzled!
So the "whimsy" factor is really the combination of the two: a genuinely upscale dine-in cinema sitting right alongside a full entertainment arcade/bowling/gastropub complex. All in the same strip mall - though they don't connect via a doorway to go between the two. It's quite the one-stop entertainment destination for a night out!
It's fun - we recommend it!
Bill is going inside for eats & some fun! It's free to attend this massive book fair.
Held annually on the University of Arizona Mall, during the second weekend of March. Quite popular, with over 130,000 attendees. Besides the wealth of books on display, they sponsor panels, children’s events, and a lively “Science City” featuring the Vatican Observatory and local researchers.
